What the sector demands

Temperature, pressure, chemicals and sustained compression without loss of elasticity.

The process industry requires elastomeric components capable of maintaining elasticity and sealing in the presence of steam, oils, coolants, condensation and prolonged thermal cycles. Peroxide-cure VMQ silicone covers most of the general industrial catalogue; specific series are selected by target temperature, mechanical demands (tear, abrasion, compression) and chemical compatibility with the service fluid. Each formulation is tested under NF ISO 37 (tensile), NF ISO 34-1 (tear) and NF ISO 815-1 (compression set) before series approval.

Industrial thermal range

Operation between −60 °C in process chambers and +200 °C in all-purpose applications (Series 1 / Series 2). For industrial ovens at 250-300 °C, Series 9 with high-temperature additives applies (continuous range −60 / +300 °C, transient peaks up to +315 °C). Mechanical stability documented by NF ISO 188 accelerated ageing testing.

Wide chemical resistance

Natural VMQ resistance to saturated steam, light mineral oils, glycol coolants, alcohols, water and diluted oxidising agents. For environments with aromatic oils, fuels or organic solvents, specific series apply: Series 22 (steam + aromatics) or Series 13 FVMQ (fluorinated). NF ISO 1817 immersion tests available per fluid.

Mechanical demands

Series with reinforced mechanical properties: high tear (S07 with 30-35 kN/m per NF ISO 34-1), high tensile strength (S01 with 26-40 kN/m), low compression set (S04 with CSR 12-18 %). Each batch tests tensile, Shore A hardness and compression set under NF ISO 37, 7619-1 and 815-1.

Dimensional control and precision

Geometric tolerances per ISO 3302-1: M2 for moulded parts and E1 for extruded profiles and gaskets. Mitutoyo measuring equipment, Shore A and IRHD durometers, analytical balance and tensile extensometer in the validation room. Each batch ships with a signed mechanical data sheet and dimensional control plan.

Industrial manufacturing under control

Extrusion and moulding of industrial silicone with ISO 8 cleanroom when applicable

The Apt plant (France, 550 m² ISO 8) runs extrusion and moulding of industrial compounds under ISO 9001. The Progress catalogue series cover the widest mechanical and thermal range: Shore A hardnesses 10-90, operating range from −110 °C (cryogenic PVMQ) up to +315 °C (VMQ extreme temperature). The ISO 8 cleanroom applies when purity is required (components in contact with product, regulated sectors); the rest of the catalogue is manufactured in a controlled industrial plant.

Solid peroxide-cure VMQ · Shore A 10-90 (widest range in the catalogue) · range −60 / +200 °C (+300 °C transient). For applications where Shore hardness varies significantly between parts or where the part is exposed to thermal peaks. FDA + CE 1935 + BfR coverage depending on colourant.

S07 · High tear + high temperature

Solid peroxide-cure VMQ · Shore A 60-70 · range −60 / +230 °C · tear strength 30-35 kN/m. For industrial inflatable gaskets, bellows, panel sealing with repeated mechanical handling or shear stress. FDA in compatible versions for dual food-contact applications.

S09 · Extreme temperature

Solid peroxide-cure VMQ with high-temperature additives · Shore A 40-68 · operating range −60 / +300 °C with transient peaks up to +315 °C. Highest continuous temperature in the catalogue. For gaskets of industrial ovens at 250-300 °C, hot air ducts, extraction systems and thermal equipment bays.

Batch traceability

Each batch ships with its mechanical data sheet and signed dimensional control plan

The base polymer arrives with the supplier CoA and technical declaration of the chemical family and target hardness. Each banbury assigns a unique batch number maintained during mixing, calendering, extrusion or moulding, post-curing in a sealed stainless steel oven and packaging. Series with functional fillers (colour, conductive, flame-retardant) are processed on a separate line to avoid cross-batch contamination.

Each shipment ships with a certificate of conformity, the compound mechanical data sheet (tensile NF ISO 37, hardness NF ISO 7619-1, tear NF ISO 34-1, compression set NF ISO 815-1, ageing NF ISO 188), the ISO 3302-1 E1 (extrusion) or M2 (moulding) dimensional control plan and REACH and RoHS records. For regulated sectors, additional certifications accumulate on top of this base framework.
